Music always inspired me, sometimes more than others, but normally if I take a pencil and I listen to music, my hand starts to flow and create compositions with the lyrics and in some way, I feel that the compositions follow the rhythm of the songs. It’s a good way to learn English as well, for those who are not native speakers, once you design with a song lyric, you can’t take off that lyric of your mind, you learn new words, new ways to say things.
I’ve done these compositions when I was living in London for the first time, I can see myself listening to music, feeling a deep connection with each song and transforming the lyrics into art, drawing letters, shapes, and connecting them. That exercise expanded my art, it was the first time that I was drawing letters, I used to do typographic compositions, but starting to do them handmade, changed everything. My passion for calligraphy and lettering had arrived.
